To Be Alone

It’s been an off day.

Friday I told a friend how good I am at being alone. Saturday morning I woke up feeling very alone and I wasn’t very good with it. 🙂

Friday night, I saw this meme before bed.

alone

Walking through my day and going to some of my favorite haunts didn’t do much for me. I read a Blog about online dating and looked at a couple of sites. That was a no.

Trying to find my groove, I hopped in my truck and drove down to the lake. The leaves are changing color and fishing boats were being launched. A woman and her dog were walking to the same spot as me. She smiled, offered an extra chair and we sat.

After introducing ourselves we began to chat.

Her name is Christine and her dog is Cowboy.

She could tell I had a mind full. I told her I’ve been Blogging about self care on Sunday’s and thought sitting at the lake would be inspiring. As I sat there with Christine and watched Cowboy swim around it soothed me.

She said, “What we’re doing is self care, but it’s Saturday and you don’t have to be alone.”

  1. Everyone is alone at some period of their lives. I remember being good at being on my own most of the time, but not always. I think it’s really good that you got out and about, eventually running into someone and their dog to share some time with. Hope you have a great Sunday!

    1. This is true and I feel like I’m right where I need to be in this season of my life. Yesterday was an off day, but I was able to write about it, so maybe that was the point. Today, I woke up feeling like myself again, but I want to use the lake access more often. Thank you Des.

    2. It was an amazingly gorgeous day. So happy me and cowboy 🤠 gave you some inspiration. We shall meet up again. I like to change the structure up. It’s not being alone… it’s being with yourself!

  2. Sometimes we have to take care with whom we tell what we are good at, envy can creep. You did the right thing to go to the lake and meeting Christine and Cowboy were what you needed on this day. Sometime we have to be forced to do things to create change. Being alone is not always healthy or good for us. We need times alone to sort our deepest inner self out and we need company to bring out and shed the past and find new ways of living with new people. Bless you Barb lots of love and hugs.
