Happily Ever After

Time goes by quickly. My daughter is driving with her permit and will have her license before long. She’s looking at cars, has a boyfriend and I just want her to be five again. Maybe it’s time for some Sun Stand Still prayers.

I saw this picture and thought it was beautiful. My daughter would love it because deep down, I think that is every girls dream. To live Happily Ever After, just like the princesses in the Disney movies. I want her to know, she can do that but she will need to start out living that way with herself. No one can make you happy, it’s up to you to be happy.

happily ever after

I can be happy all by myself.

My life is sweet just going though with God as my guide. It’s when other people come into my world that throws things off balance. God wants us to have a life with people involved, so it’s finding that daily balance of self and self with others. It works best if I can walk in love.

Our happily ever after is within us all.

We can get real happy with just us and nurture it. Interacting with others throughout the day, can be draining, so be careful who you interact with and for what length of time. I do believe God has the perfect mate for everyone, but we need to stop looking. It doesn’t need to be our primary focus. Love God, love yourself, and love others. Take care of you and let God take care of the rest. You be you and live happily ever after.

We Get To

All of my work revolves around some type of writing. God gave me a sound mind, and a big mouth, so I get to type these words in hopes of encouraging others.

It hasn’t always been this way. It seems to take a while for my mind to catch up with what my heart already knows. Once I learned money and material possessions couldn’t bring me happiness, my life got real simple.

Faith make all things possible.

I have a little sign that says, “Faith is seeing light with your heart when your eyes see only darkness ahead.” God gives just enough light for the step I’m on.

There has to be Hope.

Faith and Hope go hand in hand. Then there is Love which makes all things beautiful. There is an abundance of beauty in life, and I hope you see it in yours. Life will try to suck us in, and it’s easier to get busy trying to make a living, rather than living a life.

Don’t overlook the beauty. Have faith in the unseen, hope that it will come to pass, and love your life! It’s much sweeter to ‘get to’ rather than have to.

Feed Me Good

We need to be fed. What we choose to feed ourselves determines our health and well being. Whatever goes into the mind will eventually take root in the heart. Guard your heart and mind because out of it flow the issues of life.

I love good food, but had no desire to cook.

That chapter of my life has passed. There are people at the local Farmer’s Market that create delectable dishes for my daughter and I to enjoy. They have paid attention to our choices and make them available to us if we get there on time. They feed us.

I love to read and take 30 minutes a day to feed my mind. A motivational book or, God’s word feeds my heart, mind and soul.

Mr. Smith is a Chef. He feeds me in many ways, but recently has started cooking for me.  I enjoy watching him cook, but do not enter the kitchen or get in his way. He is laser focused on the task at hand and uses big, sharp knives!

The food is prepared quickly, turns out beautifully, and it seems within minutes he has an entire meal displayed effortlessly. The kitchen is a wreck, but dinner is served!

I ask him if I can clean the kitchen and he always says, ‘No”. It’s the least I could do for the meal he prepared but he never allows it. A couple of meals will be prepared and the kitchen continues to pile up, which drives me crazy, but leaves him undaunted. I asked him, “When are you going to clean it then?” He politely said, “When you’re not here.”

Catch a Grenade

It’s early morning and all is quiet. A gnawing noise wakes me from a deep and peaceful slumber. It sounded like a mouse chewing on wood nearby.

To my further investigation I found our cat, Marsha, at the foot of my bed, on the floor eating a mouse. I was grateful she caught it, but really? Out of all the rooms to choose from she had to choose mine?

She had no regrets. She knows her worth and did a good job catching that mouse. Wanting to show me a job well done and knowing where I was that time of morning all makes sense. By the look on my face she knew it was time to take her treasure and leave. I went back to sleep.

If you live in Texas you’re going to encounter Scorpions. Bailey and I have become a pro at killing these vicious creatures. My faithful dog, Mochee was on the front porch with me yesterday evening. He was looking at me, tail wagging, happy to be in my presence, when I spotted a scorpion.

He saw it and jumped out of the way but not before it stung him on his paw. He started howling and jumping around in pain! The scorpion ran away, so Mochee did his job. I scooped him up and comforted him as he licked the injury.

It reminded me of that Bruno Mars song, Grenade and I went to look it up. My animals love their people so much! I woke up this morning assessing if the people in my life do. I am a woman of valor and deserve the very best God has for me. He gives me His best so I can share it with others. This morning, I have realized I need to make wiser choices.

Two weeks ago, our cat Marsha had kittens.

She gave birth in her kennel and they lived there for a while. Bailey and I looked in one day and they were gone. She had moved them to a basket of blankets tucked in a corner of the mud room. I hear a ruckus and walk in to find her moving them from the basket, to under the water heater. It doesn’t look like the safest place to me, but I will trust her judgement.

She will obviously catch a grenade for them too.

One Love

As I picked up the K Cup to pop into the Keurig this morning, I looked at the name and it said, ‘One Love’. Yep…Bob Marley does coffee.

1 Corinthians 13:4-6 describes it best. To receive it and believe are simple enough, but to live it is a little more challenging for us mere mortals. I recently met a couple that emanate this kind of love. The kind of love only God can manifest between two. One love.

Patient and kind coupled together is always fun for me. It’s quicker and easier to be anxious and mean, especially to the one dearest to us. This is where I appreciate the part, ‘it keeps no record of wrongdoing’, because my list can be extensive.

That was one of the first things I had to let go of was my record of wrongs. Giving myself permission to let go of all the pain in my heart allowed God to create in me a clean heart. Have you ever walked into a closet that was so full you could barely move? That’s probably how God feels when asked to work on our hearts. He needs room to move. Let it go.

To forgive and forget. Forgiveness is free but to forget as well? By letting go you learn to think of that hurt as a lesson learned and move on. It may still pinch you from time to time, but by letting go of the pain associated with the experience, it becomes a valuable lesson. One you hopefully won’t make again in the near future.

To trust. If God places someone in your path to love, trust Him. God doesn’t make mistakes, and maybe you’re thinking, ‘but I do’. Read the verse in its entirety. It’s okay to make mistakes, and if you have the right one to love, they will keep no record of wrongs.

Love always perseveres. This is not to be confused with breaking up and getting back together over and over again. One love stands strong in adversity. While one of you is weak the other is strong. To have one love, one of you must stand firm on these promises when the other one can’t. God made it that way and it works. It all begins by letting go.
