A Rested Heart

heart

Taking care of your own heart.

It’s something nobody else can do for you. It’s yours, and can only be cared for by you.

It’s trying to get your attention. What it wants, and what you need, are one in the same.

You just may not realize it yet.

My heart is saying it’s time for rest.

A fresh start with a rested heart.

In the Moment

Sitting here this morning, I’m rethinking the timing of my last post. I thought it would be more efficient to write the post before bed and schedule it to post after midnight. Writing is not about efficiency for me.

Posting everyday this month is challenging, but what I think is my biggest challenge. I gave myself this challenge as a little push before the New Year. Here’s something I know. If I don’t enjoy it or feel I’m not giving it my best, I won’t continue.

know

This is today and I’m in the moment.

That is when I enjoy writing the most.

Forgive me for reverting my earlier post to a draft. There’s more to be said about the day of the tattoo. I have yet to write about our matching tattoo’s and that happened in October.

That is the main thing I’ve learned this month. I’m an ‘in the moment’ writer and cannot schedule my postings. I was hoping to find a flow where I post the same time each day, but that hasn’t happened. Moments are not scheduled and that’s what I love to share. I’m sticking to once a day to keep us both, in the moment.

Greet the Day

Each day is unique and treated as such.

The first thing I do, after waking up, is walk through the house and open all the blinds on the windows to let the light in. My day varies from there. I have no set routine, but there are certain rituals that enhance my morning.

Yesterday, I made a cup of green tea, but today I went straight to coffee. Yesterday, I was greeted by the sun and today it’s cloudy. Yesterday, I turned on my little fireplace, but today the house is at a comfortable temperature. Yesterday morning, my phone didn’t ring, but this morning a delivery guy called at 8:00 am inquiring where to dump a truck full of sand. I called for help.

It’s the last month of the year and the change in who we are begins now for stepping into next year. This is not a Blog Challenge, it’s a personal challenge which I’m fairly practiced at. The biggest challenge so far is to find that sweet spot in my morning to write.

When everything falls still and the only sound I hear is the tapping of the keys. This is a new way to greet the day.

Watching the Sunrise

My zen is waking up early, before the day begins.

When it’s still dark outside, but to do that, I go to sleep early. That was the scenario lastnight. By 9:00 pm, my daughter and I were getting sleepy. She chuckled and asked, “Is it too early to go to bed?” By 9:30, we were there.

My body naturally woke up at 5:50 this morning.

Waking up this early reminded me of something I miss.

Watching the sunrise.

This little house sits completely in the woods, which is unusual being so close to the city. Maybe when it was built, the trees were small, but have grown over time. The house is surrounded by trees, and give you a feel of being in the woods.

A ginormous oak tree sits in the front yard, spreading it’s massive canopy over the roof of the house. As beautiful as they are, they keep me from seeing the sunrise.

Note to self: My next house will have a view of the sunrise.

Change Your Life

You have the power to change your life. God doesn’t want us to have a mediocre life. Our lives should reflect His goodness and plan for us. Every word that falls out of our mouths serves as a compass.

Pay attention to your thoughts and words.

I have seen it continuously in my life where words became reality. When my ex husband told me. “We are going to have a marriage just like our parents did,” something inside me rose up and said, “Not gonna happen.”

I saw our lives flash before my eyes where we would spend ten more years together only to walk away complete strangers.

When I refused to settle for that life, a space opened for God to move. He had everything lined up, I just had to look. The right house and location, everything fell into place without much effort from me. It was there waiting for me to become willing to step out and trust. My life is completely different today and is still changing.

Everyday my life is new. Each day is different because I am willing to follow God and continue to change. Yesterday, on my drive, I was listening to Joel Osteen. After listening to a couple of teaching CD’s, there was one more calling my name. Pushing the buttons on the CD player, prompting it to queue and load, it gave me an error message.

I tried some more buttons and continued getting error messages with every button pressed. I spoke out-loud rather loudly, “All I want, right now, is for this CD player to work,” determined to listen to the last CD. Suddenly, the screen read, ‘Load’, queued up and began working perfectly.

The teaching was about the power of words, which is what I’m sharing today. When we speak out-loud, the words gain power in your life.

God heard my cry, He knew my heart, the CD player started working. Power is in positive and negative, so it depends on what you say. If your life is a mess, be mindful of your words, and your life will follow. Everyday, speak out-loud the life you want to have, so God can hear, and line things up for your good.

Let Them Go

I love mornings. It’s the start of a new day and is full of possibilities. Sometimes it’s easy to feel the effects of the previous day. A conversation with someone didn’t end right, or a misunderstanding may need resolution. Try not to bring yesterday into today. Look at this day for what it is, a new day and realize that yesterday is in the past.

touch

The past can ruin your day. Choose to stop dragging it around with you. If someone hurt your feelings yesterday, or made you mad, Let It Go and move on. If you are an important part of their life, they will reach out and let you know you are loved. The past doesn’t define us but it will refine us.

Don’t hold a grudge. A grudge is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. Try not to let the sun go down on your anger. When I go to bed angry, I always wake up feeling miserable. We’re not responsible for anyone’s words or actions except our own. Be the best you can be, and trust in knowing you are more than enough.

Enjoy this beautiful day. If you’re not seeing the beauty, it may be time to clean up your playground. Cut the ties that bind you to negativity and unhealthy relationships. Your life can be beautiful if you choose carefully. Treat yourself with the respect and kindness you deserve. If others cannot then they shouldn’t be there. Let them go.
