In the Bag

As I walked by the boutique window I saw this bag sitting atop a shelf. It was so simple yet magical. I felt that familiar shift of perspective.

Would it affect others similarly?

I walked in and purchased the bag.

It sits on top of the fridge as a dual reminder. One, for what it says, and two, to take it with me when I walk out the door. Some of the nearby grocery stores don’t provide bags for your purchases and suggest you bring your own. They sell reusable grocery bags, but nothing like this one.

When it’s time to bag my purchases, I’m asked, “Do you need a bag?” I sit this one down for them to use and be inspired. They pause a moment to take it all in and a smile usually follows.

Take a Stroll

I don’t enjoy the word ‘exercise’.

It just sounds like zero fun to me.

There is an older gentleman that strolls by my house. He uses a cane, or walking stick, and just strolls down the road. One morning he noticed me in the yard, and stopped to chat for a bit.

He told me about all the weight he has lost. He felt better since he began walking but he walks at a slower pace now because he doesn’t want to lose anymore weight. He must walk less frequently as well because I haven’t seen him recently.

In Julia Cameron’s books, she recommends walking twice a week. She doesn’t indicate for exercise, she suggests it to clear the mind and become inspired.

I’ve began to stroll my neighborhood.

When you think of it as a stroll instead of exercise, it takes away all excuses. I don’t need fancy running pants, or shoes. When the mood strikes, I grab a jacket or scarf and walk out the front door.

My daughter smiled at me for walking out with my reading glasses still resting on top of my head.

As I was typing this, I saw a reflection move across the laptop screen. It was that gentleman walking by.

Be inspired my lovelies and take a stroll.

Live and Learn

Today will be spent painting the wood trim in my daughter’s bedroom. Since she recently painted the walls a light color, the trim looks like a gross white, instead of bright white.

To some, this may not sound like fun, but I love it.

I’m no painter, but there is something about holding a good trim brush, and paint. You become one with the tools in hand. Make it a meditative stance, instead of a chore. When my daughter comes home, her room will have a lighter, brighter feel, and I will have a feeling of accomplishment.

You can do anything you want to do, if you want to enough.

My daughter and I consider our bedrooms our havens.

I really appreciated this mindset during Chemo for Breast Cancer. Once the Chemo Treatment was complete. my daughter would drive us home, and I would fall onto my bed. I would lay there for a couple of days, allowing my body time to do what was needed. It made me grateful I had bought a new bed the previous year. It felt good to my body, and soul.

Be inspired today Lovelies. Do something for your soul.

Talking with a friend yesterday, she asked if I had any vacation plans for the summer. That is something I rarely think about. My life feels like a vacation everyday, so I told her, “I’ve created a life I don’t need a vacation from.” She gasped and said, “I want to do that!”
