Believe in Yourself

I’m happy for the New Year, but then it was pointed out, it’s a also new decade. I’ve been on this earth for five decades and heading toward six!

A fellow Blogger left a comment that he had already missed an opportunity this year. It’s an event that occurs every New Years day where he lives, and he didn’t participate.

There are no missed opportunities.

People are under the misconception at this age, life is coming to a close. They say, “Start planning for retirement.”, but what am I retiring from? Life? I have no plans for retirement. I plan on encouraging people until my last step home.

Someone may have told you, “You’re too old.” That’s not true. That’s their perspective and it doesn’t define you. A lot of people don’t want to have a successful life and they don’t want you to have one either. As long as you have breath in your body, you have a purpose.

There are no missed opportunities.

If it’s truly meant for you, it’ll come back around. I’ve seen it take 10 to 20 years to come full circle, and at this age, I’m ready.

First, you just have to believe in yourself.

Get After It

Last August, I went to the beach.

It was a business trip offered by one of the companies I work for. The company chartered a boat with a Captain to take us fishing. It was the inspiration I needed for this year.

My daughter.

Captain Wes explained how it works.

He cast the lines and we had to watch the tip of the rod. If we saw it bend, we were to grab the rod and pull hard. That embedded the hook and then we had to reel it in fast. Captain Wes would see the rod bend and yell at us to, “Get it, get it, get it, get it, get it!”

I still hear him yelling at me.

I was on the edge of my seat the entire time! Captain Wes reminded me that fishing is similar to reeling in anything we want to achieve.

Yesterday, I saw this mug and bought it for afternoon tea. You know I don’t need one more mug, and it wasn’t even about the mug, but what it said on it. I need to see this everyday.

You know that dream you hold in your heart?

It’s time to get after it.

Set Your Mind

“You can do anything you set your mind to.” I’m fortunate to have been told that most of my life.

I received an alarm clock for Christmas. That’s what I needed to succeed at waking up early again. It’s working, but not as planned.

I haven’t heard the alarm go off yet.

Just by preparing the clock to wake me up, I’ve been waking up naturally a few minutes before it alarms. My mind sees me setting it and tells my body.

If nothing else, it’s pretty to look at.

I shared this meme on my Letitgocoach FB page, and I want to share it with you today.

There’s a dream in your heart.

It’s time to set your mind.

Coffee and Contemplation

I’ve been thinking about mornings and to retrain myself to get up early. I’m normally awake before dawn, but with the cooler weather, it’s dreadful leaving the warm bed.

There’s nothing wrong with that every now and then, but there’s things I want to accomplish. Pondering the New Year, it feels like God is giving me the head’s up on a marathon part of the journey.

mornings

While contemplating mornings, I read a post by a fellow Blogger entitled, “How to Wake Up Without Caffeine.” Don’t worry, I’m not giving up coffee. That magical brew is part of my day.

His post reminded of the sweetness before the dawn. Whether going for a walk, or just sitting outside on a yoga mat, wrapped in a blanket. It’s about watching the day begin. You can read his inspiring post here.

That’s what we do, inspire one another.

It starts with an idea and we build it to suit.

I believe we have to challenge ourselves for better. It’s not going to happen without us. In Less is More, I mentioned to focus on less, but give my best. Continuing a healthy body and clear mindset is a good place to start.

Dare to Believe

Is there a dream in your heart?

They say a dream will never leave you, unlike an ‘idea’ we soon forget. You will have ideas toward your dream. Stepping stones. Jot them down.

That dream that God placed in my heart…It’s still there. When I need encouragement toward my dream, I pull it up in my mind and see it instantly and clearly, although God showed it to me years ago.

It’s always the exact same, like watching a rerun.

I am my own worst enemy for my dream. I could quit it at any given time.

Go Back to the Beginning

“If you’re not willing to begin at the beginning, you’ll never end up at the ending.”~Christine Caine

The end of August, I stepped off the beaten path and changed the name of this Blog, but a week ago, I changed it back. I didn’t think up the name Letitgocoach. It was the only name available on WordPress with the words, ‘let it go’. God knows what He’s doing, even when we don’t.

Someone in my life at the time laughed at that name. He thought it was absurd. Let them laugh.

They may look at you like you’re a nut, but to an Oak tree, you’re everything.

Hold Onto the Dream

Now that you are daring to dream, there is something else you need to encompass.

BELIEVE.

Sounds simple right? It is, but you are going to go through tests. Pass those tests. Just get through them to the very best of your ability. Every test will make you stronger, better and quicker for the next one.

Dreamers can live in a lonely world.

Listen to motivational speakers. Read uplifting books, and Blogs. Look at people who have already achieved a similar dream, and learn from them.

Keep people in your life who love you, motivate you, encourage you, inspire you, enhance you, and make you happy.

I continually let people walk out of my life.

Let Go of the Plan

I would venture to guess no football team won the Super Bowl their first year of playing. It takes years of dedication. The same with Olympic Gold Medalists. They have that dream at a young age.

How long have you had your dream?

Maybe it’s not happening as quickly as you planned, but continue laying your hand to it. Use your gift, let go of those pesky expectations, and believe.

Success is when our preparation, and God’s timing meet on the journey.

Over the years, God has given me success. At some point in the journey I’d always ask, “What is keeping me from everything you have for me?”

Each time I felt like it was my impatience.

God is the light and we are the shadow.

Life is a journey. The destination is the dream.

Dare to Believe.

Live Like That

I was noticing how delightful it is when our actions line up with God’s plan. Keep a steady, consistent hand on your passions, and don’t give up, especially when you feel like it.

It’s easy for life to cover up our dreams. We come to a realization when we’re not sure of our purpose anymore.

My daughter had stopped playing music, and doing covers which is a part of her dream. She had become discouraged without me realizing it, until one day I didn’t hear the guitar playing anymore.

Dreams do not become real overnight.

We want them to happen quickly, but thank God they don’t. If God had given me everything I wanted, when I wanted it, I’d be overwhelmed. God is patient, and we learn patience by practicing waiting.

My daughter is slowly reaching out toward her dreams again. If it takes a baby nine months to be ready for birth, it makes sense to lay your hand to your dream for at least that length of time. I give it a year.

Any worthwhile venture is going to take time.

I applied a yearly goal to this Blog and my Letitgocoach page. At the end of the year, God shows me if I’m on the right path. My views will increase drastically on this Blog, and someone on Facebook will share a part of my page to touch more people. I’m encouraged so, I keep going in that direction.

The opposite is true when He is done with a certain dream. If we are not supposed to be spending time in a certain area, it will go nowhere. It will feel like a huge struggle and not bring us joy.

Today I am wearing a shirt that says, “Do what you like and like what you do.” Let’s change ‘like’ to ‘love’, and live like that.
