God, When she became the fire

This One Thing

If you know anything about me, it’s that I live alone with my daughter. She will be 18 this year, but I have always treated her as an adult. I guess that was my way of preparing her for adulting. Some days she acts more like an adult than me!

My last few posts have talked about writing, and why we write. Now it’s time to turn the page, and take my writing to a more personal level. I have shown you in this Blog, the beautiful relationship I get to have with my daughter. What I haven’t told you is, it’s not a list of things that I did. It has been all God, and this one thing I did.

I prayed specific prayers over her for years. I pray everyday, but when it comes to our children, I believe we need to be specific. This is the tool I used to do just that.

Stormie Omatian books. Yep, when she was little, I began using ‘The Power of a Praying Mom.’ There are specific prayers in this book that covers every stage of their young life. Now that she is older, I purchased a another book to use. It was on a clearance rack for 8 bucks. I brought that book out this week, and have began reading it.

I would love for you join me on this quest! If you don’t feel a need to join, I’ll be writing about the power of prayer, and what God is doing because of this one thing.

You can click on The Power of Praying for Your Adult Childen, to see the book. There are many ordering options, especially on Amazon, so choose what’s best for you. I bought the actual book, just in case I ever need to whack her with it. Don’t worry, it’s paperback.

I created a new Facebook page where you can see inside our actual daily lives. One of our favorite sayings has always been, “Not Today Satan. Not Today.” The page began this week, but will evolve as we do. Come and be a part of our world!

Quitting My Circumstances

My daughter spent most of the day in her room. She hasn’t done that in years, or not since we moved out on our own. She walked out of her room and asked, “So, when are you going to quit this job?” Her Mother was unrecognizable, sitting in a vat of misery. So, that’s what I did.

Since taking this job, which began as helping someone out of a tight spot, I have noticed a few things about myself that I didn’t like. I have been a Virtual Assistant by trade, but this job escalated way beyond that. I won’t bore you with all the details, but let’s just say I was under micromanagement. I can do my job, but the person who hires me has to let me.

The last email of many I received today caught my eye. He had listed all my responsibilities, and wanted to ensure this was a pleasant experience for both of us. I had agreed to answer the phone, return voicemail, and schedule appointments. Very basic. This list was not basic, so I hit reply, and told him he needed a full time assistant. He needed someone else.

Then I told him, “This is not pleasant.”

My world got very quiet after that reply was sent. It was so good to hear the silence.

I walked across the room to my personal laptop and pulled up my Letitgocoach Facebook page. While I had been sitting in a daze, God had been on Facebook. I had 99+ notifications in a two hour time span. I clicked on them, and to my surprise, this one lady had liked and shared over 50 of my posts. I pulled up her page, just to see if what was happening was real.

It was like God was saying…”See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19. Taking this job was not a new thing. It was old because I have gone down this road before. The only thing that has changed from the last time I helped, is me.

God has been all over that Facebook page ever since I started this job. I will be sharing what else He has been doing, but this is one example just from today. God knows your heart darling. He knows what brings you joy, and wants you to have a beautiful life. Your heart knows, and if it’s not a happy heart, then it’s time to let go of what’s making it sad.

Letting Go, Present Moment

Words Of Wisdom

Do you keep a Journal?

I have written in a few of them over the years. It’s fun to find one from years ago, and go through and read parts of it. The scenario described is recognizable, but the person is not. It’s almost like picking up someone else’s journal and reading it. It’s good to read it and see how much my life and I have changed. Gotten older, of course, but also wiser.

Does wisdom come with age?

I think it’s a combination of time and experiences, so maybe that is why more mature people seem wiser. Each experience takes time. Some may take a few weeks, while others take months or years. Whichever the case, we spend time in a certain area of our life and learn valuable lessons. Every experience teaches us something if we allow.

SpainI have a book that I’ve been writing in for a couple of years. It’s called my Book of Wisdom. When I need an encouraging word, I flip through that book. The pages hold prayers I prayed the first year on my own with my daughter. They are covered with phrases, quotes, and Bible verses I need to hear.

Do I need Encouragement?

Yes, I do. Being an Encourager is what I do and a large part of who I am. My daughter gets tickled at me on those off days, finding me scanning through my Letitgocoach Facebook page. I pour a lot of words of wisdom onto that page, so it makes sense that I would go back and look at it.

There are tons of great quotes out there, but one of my favorites is “Accept what is, let go of what was, and have faith in what will be.” This quote was written in my book on 6-8-13. One year later, almost to the day, this Blog was born. Coincidence? I don’t this so. We all need encouragement, and when we do, it’s only a matter of looking, until we find the right words.

Present Moment, Quality of life

Your Beautiful Life

This morning, my daughter and I are sitting in one of our favorite shops. The owners are taking a much needed break and we are here for them. It’s a Vintage shop full of goodness, and we love being here. It’s a blessing in our lives.

I love walking though the shop and seeing everything that’s been added since my last visit. It’s one of those places you stroll through and look carefully in every nook and corner. Otherwise, you might miss something really sweet.

One of the first things I noticed was a book that looked very similar to what I have in mind. The size and how it feels in your hand, not the actual book. God has revealed what He wants me to write, but I didn’t have a feel until now.

blogThis was on my Facebook page this morning. Simple elegance is what I see and it resonated as a possible book cover. I love the acronym for SWEN, but what caught my attention foremost was the bottom left hand corner. It simply says, ‘Your Beautiful Life.’

I have been pondering this for most of this week. How beautiful life is. Going through the different phases of life, I am sitting in a sweet one. That doesn’t mean everything is perfect. I want everyone to see the beauty in life and relax into the knowing, it’s all God.

There is nothing I physically did to have what I have. God spent many years giving me a beautiful life, but it took time for me to see it. The more grateful I am, the more beautiful it becomes. Earning less money than ever before and happier than I could ever imagine.

As people walk into the shop, I smile and ask them about their day. My daughter is playing the piano beautifully and she doesn’t know how to play. Encouraging people is what I love to do and my daughter is musical. God will use us to bless others and that is what makes a beautiful life.

Quality of life, Stealing My Joy

Back To Basics

God has given my daughter and me a beautiful life. This Blog is that journey of the lessons learned and divine intervention along the way. I sit here this evening with a heart full of love and gratitude for you reading my Blog.

Cannon RebelSL1 006 edit (500x490)I’m an ordinary woman, living an extraordinary life.  Why? Because almost 17 years ago, my alcoholism was killing me and destroying what looked to be a beautiful life. The fancy cars, house on the hill, jewelry, designer clothes and one dinner party after another. The status quo.

The morning of November 10th, I handed my wine glass to God, half full at the time, and have not desired another drink since.

This picture is my life today. My daughter and I recently moved into this quaint little farm house and we’re sharing this new beginning, again.

He started our monumental new beginning 2 years ago and you can read about it throughout this site. If you want to see how pretty life can be, take a look at my Facebook page. All the pretty pictures are there. I’m not independently wealthy, but I have a God that has given me a life more beautiful than any amount of money can buy.

I am starting a little series of Blogs this week and invite you to join in. They will be listed under the category of “Quality of Life” and  “Stealing My Joy.” I love to show people they can have quality of life without quantity. God showed me a long time ago how much joy I received taking care of all my stuff. I had a lot of stuff but no joy.

Today, I want to reach as many people as possible and encourage them through their life. What I write about is whatever God puts on my heart to share. Right now, He is showing me I need to clean house and get back to the basics of living. It’s going to be a great adventure to live it and an honor to write it. Feel free to join in and share.
