God Has Better in Store

I love the way life is our teacher.

We can learn so much by paying attention.

I noticed the birds hadn’t used the bird feeder in a while. The feeder was introduced in the post It Took Years. It’s a beautiful feeder, but it’s been a battle with the squirrels. They could easily pop open the lid and dive all the way in for a feast.

We’ve had a lot of rain recently and it would seem that rain is not a friend of the feeder. Upon further investigation the seed was wet and molded.

I tried to save the feeder by washing it out.

There was no way to open the bottom to clean out the impacted seed, so the feeder was ruined. Note to self…Bring feeder inside during storms.

This is where it’s a choice. I could throw the clogged up feeder away and be done with the whole idea, but I love seeing the birds in the yard!

My new bird feeder.

A trip to the local hardware store solved the issue.

This feeder cost the same amount of money as my last one, and it will be a fight for the squirrels. The lid locks and is almost as human proof as squirrel. If a squirrel grabs a perch the entire feeder slides down and the feeding holes close.

It can display three types of birdseed and vibrates massive Zen hanging by the Arbor. It surprised me was how much my taste has changed in a short amount of time. This one is so sleek compared to the previous one.

Remember me? I’m pretty but won’t last.

When we let go of something a space opens up for new. We don’t have to hold on and try to fix it, or make it work. Just let it go. God has better in store.

Feel the Music

I made a note of this song weeks ago.

This came to my attention just now.

So my dahlings, someone out there needs to hear this, and better yet, believe this. We tend to believe what other people say about us too quickly. What does God say about us? Which is more important?

Over all the other voices, sometimes including my own, I choose to believe You God, and what You say.

Living In Enoughness

Today’s magical word for me is ‘Enoughness’. I love taking words such as, Awesome, and Fabulous, and adding ‘ness’ to them. Then you have Awesomeness and Fabulousness!

Let’s look at Enoughness. Leo Babuata of Zen Habits, is one of my Hero Writers. He inspires me, and prompts me to think. Leo has been writing for 25 years. I’ve been struggling with writing thanks to Chemo, because it fogs the brain. I want to write everyday, but it’s a challenge. I’m whining after not even 3 years of writing, so thank you Leo for continuing to write, and inspiring us babies.

I have found over the years, that God has given me more than enough. Am I happy with what I have? I am overjoyed! Simplifying my life has brought me tremendous freedom!

How can less be more than enough? Time, patience, gratitude, and God.

dream

I am free to dream. What are those dreams? Well, one is writing. God has opened the door, just recently, for me to pursue another life-long dream. I will share more about that later. Focus Barbara.

Yesterday was my 12th Chemo Treatment, and now I will enjoy a 3 week break. I am so excited! Hopefully, the time off from Chemo, will allow me to practice my writing skills. You will see more of me, and in different ways.

To stay in practice, I have posted what’s on my heart, on my Letitgocoach Facebook Page. A writer has to write, so even though they are small, they are being well received. Thank you.

So, back to Enoughness. All I needed to start Blogging was a laptop. Well, that was easy enough. Looking around at my life, I always have what I need, when needed. The other day, my daughter needed a Sharpie. I knew we had to have one, I just wasn’t sure where. Looking through all the drawers to no avail, I opened a cabinet, to pull out a bowl. There was the Sharpie. It had fallen from the back of the drawer, and landed in the stack of bowls below.

Gratefulness. Staying grateful for everything God has given us. Even that Sharpie.

My mind is shutting down, so I leave you with Leo’s wisdom. This is his Blog about Enoughness, which I hope you will take a minute to enjoy. “All You Need, You Already Have.”

Much love. ❤

Learning To Live

We are getting much needed rain here in Texas. I have three chickens in the side yard that have not witnessed rain in a long time. When it started to pour from the sky, they freaked out and started running around. They have a coop to provide shelter, with the door standing wide open, but are huddled up against the house instead. They are called chickens for a reason.

blog1Maybe we forgive and forget how things feel. Forgiveness has to come first, or the forgetting will not take place. It will haunt us and make us miserable until we forgive. God wants us to forgive others for wrongdoing, but we often forget to forgive ourselves.

The house my ex-husband lives in is the same house we shared. When I left, I only took a few things, so you couldn’t tell at first glance, that anything was missing. The furnishings remained the same as I left them, with a few replacement pieces. I don’t know how he has lived there. I guess he hasn’t. It has just been sheltering from the storms of life.

brokenI saw that house as a slow brewing storm or vortex. My ex-husband blames himself for the dissolve of our marriage. It’s not true, but that is how he sees it. Recently, I sent him an email asking him to forgive me for hurting him. I don’t know that he can because he is going to have to find forgiveness for his soul first. He needed to leave that house.

His favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” His life is not reflective of his favorite verse. When you are stuck in the past, there is no future.

I started praying for God to move and show my ex His goodness. It was passed time for him to leave that house, and all the haunting memories it stored. Last weekend, my ex took our daughter to look at a house he saw in the newspaper. She showed me pictures of it, and it’s the perfect house for him! He is moving in November!

When my ex and I first met, he lived in a condo on a lake in Virginia. This house is reminiscent of that condo, and is overlooking a lake! God is restoring the years lost, by placing him in the last place he was his happiest. Now he can have a beautiful shelter, surrounded by God’s goodness and start the forgiving process. Let the healing begin.
