Carpe all the Diems

I walked into a well-known craft store yesterday to pick up some cross stitch supplies. The bin holding the color thread needed was empty.

So, I left the store carrying a box of new landscape lights. Does this happen to you too?

Standing in the checkout line, I scanned the display in front of me and contemplated an additional purchase. I’ve always loved these and I smiled as I reached down and grabbed one. My daughter will think it’s for her, but no my lovely…

It’s for me, but I share good. 🙂

The cross-stitch I will make when I find the supplies says, “Carpe all the Diems.” It has a crown at the top to go along with our Queen B theme.

My hope for you my darling is that you follow suit and Carpe all the Diems.

It’s Only Temporary

Little Fears came out with a new t-shirt.

I saw this shirt on Wednesday, in the midst of a wildly rainy day. Knowing my flower garden would love the rain, I wondered what storm other’s may be going through. You know…the storms of life.

My divorce was a three year storm.

Breast Cancer was a two year storm.

But there’s something I learned about storms. They don’t last forever. We face them and get through them. It only gets better on the other side.

Plus, ‘it’s only temporary’. These three words bring comfort during storms.

I first heard them as I was walking through Breast Cancer. When my hair fell out, and I lost weight during Chemo my appearance changed but I was told, ‘it’s only temporary.’

It’s a small phrase holding a big truth.

You see lovely, it wasn’t the end of the road. It was all a part of the journey.

I walked outside this morning to see if any damage was done by the storm, and all I saw was growth.

This plant doubled in size overnight. The sun is shining and with time it will be in full bloom.

Little Fears is right. No rain no flowers.

If you’re in the midst of a storm, just remember. It’s only temporary.

Feel the Music

Driving home last night, this song came on the radio.

The one thing that can change my mood rapidly is, hopping in my truck, and driving somewhere, even if it’s just down the road 10 minutes away. It doesn’t have to be a long drive, just long enough to hear the right song.

There is something about being in my faithful truck, on a road, and hearing a good song that feeds my soul.

As I listened to the words in this song, it reminded me of why I write. To give hope. I’m not sure I’ve written anything to save someones life, but God will work through our writing to help change people’s lives. It’s His job to save.

I will tell you what you need to hear, and that you’re not forgotten. My hope is you can see a God who is more than all you ever wanted. We all need hope, and if you’re here, you’re not alone. Maybe God has called you to this Blog, and you will read something that will change your perspective, which is a good step toward changing your life.

Hopes and Dreams

Hopes and dreams. Otherwise, our lives merely exist.

My life is evolving. Much has changed in the past month, and even more in the past week! “The Love Button“, spoke about the opportunity on Facebook to give and receive love. This caused me to take a look at my personal Facebook timeline.

My personal timeline has become my virtual ‘dream board’.

A dream board is commonly used among Entrepreneurs. Years ago, we cut pictures from magazines, and attached them to poster-board. Once complete, the board would be filled with photos, displaying a life beyond our wildest dreams! Today we have technology so,  “Hello 2017.”

hopesanddreams

This photo popped up on my Facebook news-feed. My heart ran as fast as it could into that photo! My life is simple, so skip the fancy couch. A Yoga mat, or pillow will do just fine. The view is what made my heart squeal with delight!

To live by the sea is a ‘hope and dream’ of mine.

The photo was posted by a Facebook page entitled, Hopes and Dreams, and was ‘liked’, by me immediately. A beautiful soul is behind this page, and we have become fast friends! God can work through photos to reveal what’s in our hearts!

For the past month a handful of Facebook pages, and the people behind them, have caused my heart to sing! Another page is Love Notes. This woman is full of love, hence the name. After hanging out with these ladies for just a few weeks, my timeline became a literal dream-board! This morning, Hopes and Dreams posted this quote by Jung.

lifeat40

God gives revelation in yearly increments. Once 30 years had passed, I knew my life would change. At the age of 35, my daughter was born, and by 40, my marriage was an unhealthy space for everyone involved. After trying to make it work for 8 more years, God opened a door for us to leave. At 48, my daughter and I began our new life together, with God.

Seeing this quote by Jung stirred up memories. My life continues to change, but is it my life changing, or my soul?  Photos on Facebook, and the people posting them, have helped tap open my heart, and awaken dreams. You can see it on my timeline. My soul is awake as well. ‘Hope’, is what keeps us here, but ‘Dreams’ are where the soul wants to go.

The Seeds of Success by Og Mandino

In this season of thankfulness, I want to share this.

Letitgocoach

God, I thank you for this day.

I know I have not accomplished as yet all you expect of me, and if that is your reason for bathing me in the fresh dew of another dawn, I am most grateful.

I am prepared at last, to make you proud of me.

I will forget yesterday, with all it’s trial and tribulations, aggravations and setbacks. The past is already a dream from which I can neither retrieve a single word nor erase any foolish deeds.

I will resolve, however, that if I have injured anyone yesterday through my thoughtlessness, I will not let this day’s sun set before I make amends, and nothing I do today will be of greater importance.

I will not fret the future. My success and happiness does not depend on straining to see what lurks dimly on the horizon, but to…

Get To Work

I love what I get to do today.  All of my work revolves around some type of writing. God gave me a sound mind and a loud mouth, so I get to type these words in hopes of encouraging others. Do what you love and love what you do.

blogIt hasn’t always been this way. It seems to take a while for my mind to catch up with what my heart already knows. Once I learned money and material possessions couldn’t bring me happiness, my life got real simple.

Faith make all things possible. Believe it and receive it peeps. I have a little sign that says, “Faith is seeing light with your heart when your eyes see only darkness ahead.” God gives just enough light for the step I’m on.

There has to be Hope. Faith and Hope go hand in hand. Then there is Love which makes all things beautiful. There is an abundance of beauty in  life and I hope you see it in yours. Life will try to suck us in and it’s easier to get busy trying to make a living rather than living and enjoying life. Don’t overlook the beauty. Have faith in the unseen, hope that it will come to pass, and love your life! It’s much sweeter to ‘get to’ rather than have to.

You Are Worthy

There are a couple of Farmer’s Markets, not far from my house, that I love walking through on Saturday morning’s. For the vendors, this is their livelihood and a delicious service to the community. If you read, “The Final Day of A Better Way To Live“, the Farmer’s Market is the perfect opportunity to give of yourself. I say hello and hug most of the vendors. It was cold this morning, so they were bundled up, but present. They were so happy to see a smiling face, it didn’t really matter if I made a purchase. The hug, smile, chit chat and laugh were enough.

Bathroom Mirror

As I was getting ready this morning, I read the writing on my bathroom mirror, and wanted to share. This statement was given to me by a friend of mine and I passed it onto my daughter. We say this out loud daily, and my daughter, Bailey, wrote it on the mirror. Isn’t that one of the places we look for approval?

“I am strong enough, pretty enough, smart enough, and I am worthy of all good!”

There is a difference between using a mirror to get ready, and looking in the mirror and seeing the person looking back. My hope is that you like that person looking back, because God doesn’t make no junk. It took me a long time to be able to look into a mirror after my drinking career. Once I did, I knew there was someone in there worthy of all good.

Write it on your mirror. Speak it out loud for you to hear. Give it breath and life and above all else, believe it’s true. Because it is.
