Leave January Behind

“Now that January is out of the way, we can finally get 2019 started.” ♥ SC Lourie.

The Morning Pages

I’ve added another simple habit to my life.

It’s called, The Morning Pages.

This was daunting to begin. As you know I like my mornings, and coffee is an intricate part. You are to write three pages by hand, as soon after you awake. Or in my case, as soon as humanly possible.

The idea is to start before the brain starts.

The mind can quickly begin shooting off ideas about my day, so this has been an interesting exercise.

The first day was effortless. My mind wasn’t fully awake, so it felt like my heart was dictating the writing. There must be a small window of time to be in this space, because the next day I waited to begin.

It was a struggle between heart and mind.

So, they key is….do it before anything else.

Therein lies the beauty of the Morning Pages.

Thank you Julia Cameron for sharing your creativeness, and Nadine at Bloomwords for mentioning her and this, in your Blog.

Enjoying the Journey

“Relax. You’re on a journey of discovery. Let life reveal itself to you.”~ Melody Beattie.

My daughter was packing to go to her Dad’s and asked, “What are you doing this weekend?” I replied, “I’m going to not think so much.”

I’ve just been enjoying the journey.

I once told my daughter, “I don’t have any problems,” and compared to the rest of the world I don’t, but I can create them in my mind.

It takes just as much time to pray as it does to worry. It doesn’t zap your energy, it’s healthier and much more effective.

In listening to my meditation last night, the teacher was talking about ‘acceptance’ of things as they are.

Some things in life can be changed quickly, some more slowly and some are out of our control.

“Ah…This is the way things are for now.”

Time passes and things change. Sometimes it’s our perspective and other times God steps in.

I remembered telling my daughter, “I don’t have any problems”, but then came to this realization.

Just because there’s nothing wrong, doesn’t mean everything’s right for me.

A Fresh Start

I went back to Soul Society Yoga’s Chillville.

It’s my favorite class, and is a nice way to do something my body will thank me for later.

I saw this sign hanging in Yoga class like a confirmation assuring me I was in the right space.

I love Yoga, but now it’s beginning to love me.

The New Year is here, and it’s the year of kindness.

I’m trying to be kind to myself so kindness will spill over onto others. Going to Yoga at least once a week is a good start. After class, I spoke with the teacher. He began by going to one class a week for a year.

That’s good enough for me. He’s an instructor now.

This year, I also dove into my meditation practice.

My daughter referred me to an app called ‘Simple Habits.’ The first week of January I began doing a 30 day practice called ‘Fresh Start.’ It’s free to use, and has many free meditations. It’s wonderfulness.

I took this screenshot yesterday.

The screenshot reveals how simple it is to create a habit. Just like Yoga, the meditation is becoming a part of my life. It feels like something’s missing without it. We can create simple habits.

Maybe you’re beating yourself up mid January on goals that aren’t being met. Be kind to yourself.

Developing personally takes time, so take the full year. Every minute of the day is a fresh start.
