Will Find You

I read this quote and made it into a meme.

I’m grateful that I learned how to make memes. When I first began, a stranger stepped up and sent me a message that was very discouraging.

He owns several Facebook pages with lots of followers, so maybe he was trying to help the newbie? I stopped making them for a while after that.

He didn’t approve of the font I was using.

Back then, I was just learning and experimented with every type font. Each quote has a unique feel and deserves it’s own background and style.

I looked at one of his pages and every meme was on a black background with the same font.

Aesthetically pleasing.

Mine come from the heart.

They are not perfect, but it’s not so much how they look, but what they say. When I make one, I feel someone needs to hear that today. Maybe it’s you.

Joy is of the heart. Keep doing what makes your heart happy my darling and joy will find you.

Stork and Me

Three years ago, I told God I wanted nothingness. Just put me in nothingness. Well, it’s true when they say, “Be careful what you ask for. You just might get it!” He plopped me on 40 acres, with my daughter, and a new beginning.

piermcdadeWhen I knew it was past time for me to leave my marriage of 25 years, I prayed the God would show us where to go. At first, I was hoping my daughter and I would be able to stay in our home, and that my husband would leave. He wasn’t leaving, and I guess he thought I wouldn’t either. He had another thing coming.

I was so hungry for more. Beauty, peace, joy, happiness, and a life reflecting His very best. I couldn’t really fathom what that would look like, because He is God, but I knew it had to be better than where I had allowed myself to be. It was that faithful day, I was standing outside, and my daughter walked up to me and said, “Mama? Are you ever gonna smile again?” It was time for a huge leap of faith.

If you want to read all about Stork, and what He’s meant in my life, you can do so here. I believe God will give us signs we are on the right path. Stork has been mine.

storkI didn’t know where to go. Where would be our new home? My daughter started looking, and found a house an hour away from where we were. We looked at several houses, but none of them seemed quite right. When she found this one, I asked, “Where the heck is McDade, TX?” We drove to find out.

After looking at numerous houses, I was ready for a sign. I asked God to make it crystal clear, if this was going to be our new home. Make it obscenely obvious, because sometimes I need that. We met the man that owned the little house, at the house, and he showed us around. I knew it was when Mr. Rick said the exact same words as I had asked God. He said, “What do you think? Is this your new home?” Knocked me over.

It was still a scary process, waking up out in the middle of nowhere. We were surrounded by 40 acres, and lots of wildlife. Mr. Rick, and his wife, Patricia, lived across the pond from us, so we weren’t completely alone. God has His Angels firmly planted. I still laugh when I think back at the first time I called them at 2:00 am, after hearing footsteps on the porch.I-know

No honey, those were hooves, not feet. We had our first encounter with wild boar. “Stay inside”, she said. “They are just as afraid of you, as you are of them.” I wasn’t so sure. We bought a shotgun, but never had to use it. God had our backs.

Stepping out onto the front porch of that little house for the first time, coffee in hand, it looked just like nothingness. I asked God, “If this is where we’re supposed to be…If we are on Your path, You gotta show me something please.”

My eyes were drawn down to the left, where a pond and a pier stood still. At the end of that pier, was the most beautiful Great Blue Heron! He was just standing there majestically, with complete confidence, which at the time I didn’t have. He looked at me as if to say, “Good morning Dear. God sent me to tell you. Welcome home.” It was absolutely beautiful!

That was years ago, but Stork is still in my life today. While visiting Mr. Smith, and his lake was newly recovering from the drought, I gazed out my writing room window, and spotted him. Same stance, same message as before.

He is still here today, and I love watching him fly in to catch his breakfast. He doesn’t stay long, but just a glimpse is all I desire. Jeremiah 29:11 says it all Beautiful Souls. He has a good plan. If you are sitting in nothingness, it just might be your new home. That house is where God healed me from all the hurt from my past. That is where I became a Letting Go Coach.

That leap of faith was the first step of a new life, and a life of beauty. I don’t know if I will ever know what God’s very best looks like, but I’m going to enjoy the journey, and the little glimpses He gives. I’m obviously on the right path.

Say So Long

Do you have projects left undone? I have acquired vintage pieces with the sole intent of painting them. Giving them new life with lots of color. If it’s been a year and they are still sitting in their original state. Probably time to move on.

I had a rocking chair that was very old. It was solid wood with a rattan seat insert. The wood carving was very pretty, but it made an enormous amount of noise when you sat in it. I’m sure a cushion would fix that, but it needed some time I wasn’t willing to spend. I had good intentions with the chair, but it wasn’t a priority anymore. In it’s natural state, it didn’t bring me joy and wasn’t being restored to it’s greatest potential. This morning, I had to let it go.

blogToday is trash day, so I took it down the driveway and sat it by the trashcan for pick up. The chair came into my life in a season and for a reason at the time. My thought was to make it better. I have friends post pictures often of pieces they have restored and they’re beautiful!

My thought never turned to passion.

I know my passions. These are the things that set my heart afire. Ideas or thoughts from the heart that have fuel in them. That is what I love.

After I sat the chair at the end of the driveway, I was inspired to write this Blog. It was about 30 minutes later, I grabbed my camera to go snap a picture, to include here to show you the chair. It was gone. The trash man had not come, because the trash was still there, but no chair.

That made my heart happy. Someone had driven by and saw it and wanted it for themselves. Maybe they loved restoring furniture and saw it’s potential like I had a year ago, or maybe they just loved it as is. Whatever the reason, I am happy that the chair lives on in someone elses life. I was not enjoying it, but I’m grateful that somebody else will.

Do you have things in your life that you’re just keeping to keep them? Take time to let them go. They will serve someone else and bring joy to their life for a season. That will bring you happiness and give you a simpler life to enjoy.

Stealing My Joy

I had a revelation just now in the kitchen. Maybe my kitchen is the place to be because I seem to find revelation there daily. Yesterday, God showed me what my book is going to look like, just standing at the kitchen sink. Now it is clear.

I have had a page pulled up since early this morning to write this ‘Stealing My Joy’ series, and I had to just place it in drafts. God has shown me two things in the kitchen today, and one of those is…I can steal my own Joy. The other thing was, He has given me a beautiful life and that is what I can encourage others with. People want a pretty life!

blog2Every time I walked by, or sat down at my laptop, I saw the page waiting for me to type. Even though there is something right outside my door that is annoying, I don’t have to let it steal my Joy. I choose not to for now and will write about it once I have a conclusion. I want a happy ending first.

I have an extremely patient man in my life. He always lets me work. This week, I became engrossed in what I do and we lost touch.  Choosing to spend several hours with him today is just what I needed.  He brings pure goodness into my world and my life would not be as pretty without him.

My daughter is playing music and twirling like a ballerina in the den as I walk by. She asks, “Dance with me Mama?” I give her a look because she knows, I don’t dance. As I walk by her, she grabs me and gives me a hug instead. I held her tightly for a moment and just felt that moment. Our life is in constant motion, but we have to stop for these moments. These are precious moments that produce all that’s pretty.

Think and Grow Rich

One of my favorite books is by Napoleon Hill, “Think and Grow Rich.” Millions of people have read it and expected to learn the secret of great wealth! Sitting here sipping my coffee, I wonder, “Did they get it?” I am rich and this is how.

thinkSome men tell me I think too much. This is ludicrous because I love to think! Being a writer, my thoughts reveal a potential nugget to share with others. My purpose is to share my experience, strength and hope with others, so they realize they are not alone. I have also been told I talk too much. That is all part of being a writer. We think and we talk. It takes a God given man to love me.

I put this post on my Facebook timeline recently, to remind me of what I already know. My thinking will never be big enough, because my God is bigger. On my best day I can think up some pretty good stuff, but I haveta recall this. My past thinking got me a 16 year sobriety chip in AA. Let’s not do that again.

Today, God has given my daughter and me a beautiful little house on 5 acres. It’s not a mansion, but we learned a long time ago, things don’t bring happiness. Material things have brought work, worry and pain into my life. Having chosen my things carefully the past two years, they now bring me joy. There is nothing in storage. Every single piece is lived with and loved on. I use my things and they no longer use me. You cannot visibly see my wealth.

Is someone trying to take something from you? I can put up with a fair fight, but when it stops being fair, I’m done. God will replace anything taken from me with bigger and better than I could ever imagine. Just like our new home, it doesn’t look the same as I once had. It’s better, but not more than I can handle. Today I am wealthy and it’s nothing I physically did. What I thought I needed I gave up, or it’s sitting in a box. God is not in a box, and today, neither am I.

Choose Happiness

Happiness is something you have to hold onto. Life happens fast and circumstances can steal your joy. People will come into your life to steal your joy because they have none. We can share our joy with others, but don’t give it all away or allow it be taken. Life is 10% of what happens and the 90% is how we react. Hold on tight.

signLast week, I received a text from a friend I haven’t spoken with in a while. She was at one of our favorites stores and saw this sign. She sent me this pic and said, “Saw this today and it reminded me of you.” How sweet is that? I’m honored and delighted that she thought of me when she saw, “Choose Happiness.”

I was talking to another friend recently and listening to the problems she was facing in her life. They all stemmed from certain people she was allowing to be a part of her life. She probably saw a perplexed look on my face because I don’t have problems like that anymore. Why? Because I don’t allow people like that into my life anymore.

Set your standards high. If you don’t like the way you are treated by some people then tell them, ‘Goodbye.’ The setting of your standards and what you allow will attract those type people. Raise your standards and God will place people in your life to meet them. Continue to raise them and you’ll continually meet those people.

Don’t settle for the life you have now if you want one that is better. God promises that He has plans for us and they are more than we can even imagine or hope for. So, even the best life we can possibly imagine, God has more in store for us. Going through the Letting Go process cleaned out a lot of stinking thinking and people. I expect from others what I expect from myself and my standards are high. This narrows the playing field, but I have a quality of life that is more than I could ever imagine or hope for. Choose happiness and surround yourself with everything it brings.

Take It Or Leave It

We had a beautiful Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year. This has been a truly great year! That doesn’t mean it’s been easy or uneventful. I choose to look at life’s challenges as opportunity for growth. There is always something to learn, which is probably why I refer to ‘lessons learned’ so often. God willing, I will never stop learning.

rightsI posted this on Facebook a while back, and caused quite a stir. The picture says it all, but the quote drives it home. Have you thought about what and who you’re going to allow to go with you into 2015? Please ponder.

I encourage to leave the past behind you and step into newness. If you’ve been carrying the past with you, how has that served you so far?

I always remind my daughter, “They can’t have a valid opinion where they don’t have any responsibility.” Take some time before the New Year, and see how you want 2015 to look. What would you change? Who would you delete from your contacts list? When my daughter and I were moving from our existing life into a new one, she wasn’t sure what to pack to take with her. She saw me packing up items, but being selective. I told her, “Only pack it if it brings you joy. If it adds love and light to your life, then bring it, otherwise, leave it.’

That is my best advice to you for 2015. If it brings you love, light and joy then take it with you into the New Year. Otherwise, leave it.
