You’re Not Failing

I love the sound of the ocean. Looking at the expansive body of water, reminds me how big my God really is. The water rolls in with crashing force, but then playfully slips ashore. If you’re standing nearby, it will find your feet like it’s trying to get you to join in on the moment.

Thinking about waves reminded me of this meme I made years ago, and searched my computer until it was found. My daughter jokingly exclaims, “You were on LSD when you made that?” 🙂

No my darling, I was learning.

The program I use to make memes added new options overnight. What began as a black and white photo of my daughter became the explosion of color you see above. I added layer, upon layer of color and texture, just to see what the new buttons would do, but then ran into a problem. Once added, I couldn’t figure out how to remove it. I spotted a tiny little button that said, “Undo”, but saved this beforehand. It’s a reminder of how easily I can get caught up and swept away in a wave of options.

To this day I don’t see it as a failed meme.

I told my daughter, “What I see as a learning experience, someone else will love.” (Someone who thrives on color) The only failure from that day would be to stop making memes, and that didn’t happen. I’m not going to be intimidated by a bunch of buttons and neither should you my friend.

I saw this quote this morning and thank Craig Maloney for posting it. He has written an excellent post regarding failure that you can read here. Failure waits for us in the ‘not showing up’ for what life has to offer. Thank you for showing up here today. ~ Barb.

As long as you’re learning, you’re not failing.

Surprise Yourself

It’s been a little over a week since my Blogging everyday began. The idea surfaced during Thanksgiving holiday. From there it hovered around the back of my mind until the idea became something I really wanted to do.

Listening to Lewis Capaldi inspired me.

When I found his version of It’s the Climb, that song fueled the idea. When we have an idea, or feel led toward an accomplishment, it’s not the end result for me. It’s when the idea turns into a solid decision and it moves you.

Show me a decision and I’ll show you a direction.

There have been surprises along the way as with any journey. It hasn’t been easy and I wanted to re-evaluate this idea after day three. I don’t wish to become a daily Blogger, so I had to kick that mindset to the curb and simply enjoy the daily activity of it.

Iron Sharpens Iron

It was years ago when I first saw one of SC Lourie’s memes and thought, ‘I want to make memes that look like that.’ They are beautiful and well loved. She designs her own paper, so there’s a lot more here than meets the eye.

I’ve mastered the art of making memes, but they don’t look like hers. It more than the paper, it’s the words poured out onto it.

I couldn’t duplicate her heart.

She was the main reason I rejoined Facebook one year ago. To support her in her FB group for the November Soul Reset.

At some point this year she asked if I would assist her on Facebook. It’s an honor to be there for her in pursuit of her dream. Our friendship has grown into trust and a mutual admiration. She sent me her End of the Year Soul Reset as a thank you.

To celebrate where we stand.

We need to hang out with souls who inspire us. We never know where the path may lead. This began as a love for memes and believing hers to be extraordinary. We’re present for one another because even the Encourager needs encouragement.

Will Find You

I read this quote and made it into a meme.

I’m grateful that I learned how to make memes. When I first began, a stranger stepped up and sent me a message that was very discouraging.

He owns several Facebook pages with lots of followers, so maybe he was trying to help the newbie? I stopped making them for a while after that.

He didn’t approve of the font I was using.

Back then, I was just learning and experimented with every type font. Each quote has a unique feel and deserves it’s own background and style.

I looked at one of his pages and every meme was on a black background with the same font.

Aesthetically pleasing.

Mine come from the heart.

They are not perfect, but it’s not so much how they look, but what they say. When I make one, I feel someone needs to hear that today. Maybe it’s you.

Joy is of the heart. Keep doing what makes your heart happy my darling and joy will find you.

Be a Stopper

I’m not very good at quitting. As soon as that thought entered my mind, another thought followed. ‘You don’t have to quit, but you can stop.’

I’m good at stopping.

In speaking with a co-worker he said something that has been rolling around my mind for a week. We don’t know each other very well, so he had no idea my love for memes. I noticed he never posted a meme on his Facebook page. It was always a photograph with a description of the event.

He said, “People being encouraged by a saying on a meme. That is the most ridiculous thing ever!”

His comment knocked me back for a moment, but I quickly realized I’ve had that thought before.

At the time, I was scheduling an encouraging meme to post automatically the next morning. A lady thanked me for starting her day with something positive, but then I wondered…’Why are you looking through your phone for encouragement?’

I’ve done it too. Whenever I needed encouragement I’d scroll through my own Facebook page. Hah!

In 2017, I taught myself how to make memes. If you google Letitgocoach, and click images, you will see some, but once I learned, I was ready to learn something else. Making memes is a nice tool to have, but they’ve lost their sparkle in my life.

Smith and I stopped seeing one another. We had a beautiful journey, but we stopped several times. The time between stops got longer until we knew our journey had come to a close. It was a sweet ending and then I saw a meme he posted on Facebook. He announced his single status in a joking way.

He used a meme and it was humorous, but I thought it ironic that the end of our relationship was summed up in a meme. I’m not hurt by it. I know it’s his way to lighten the seriousness of the situation with humor, so I’m happy he can do that.

I may not be a quitter, but I’m a good stopper.

Good For Me

Something happens when I step into this virtual world of Blogging. As soon as I enter, it feels like home.

You can always come here to find encouragement.

My purpose in life is to love people and help them along their journey. I don’t claim to have all the answers, just sharing my heart and what God is showing me today.

We can walk this life together, which is so much better than alone. This life is our gift and it’s meant to be opened and enjoyed daily. How we use it directs our path, but I thank God today, I stumble and don’t fall.

This is one of the first memes I made.

The first few I made have words on them out of a journal I carry around all the time. When God tells me something, I write it down. It may be something I’ve heard before, or something original. Any worthwhile thought goes in the journal.

God prompted me months ago to start making memes. I looked at free software online and was discouraged rather quickly. I’m not super technical, but I can usually figure things out. Some of these software’s are not meant to be figured out. They are merely there to frustrate. The one I chose is called Picfont.

So when is something ‘good for you’?

When it feeds your soul. There are going to be lessons in life, but should life be one continuous lesson? I think not. If that were the case, I’d feel beat up, worn down and defeated, which is the complete opposite of who I am. I wouldn’t be able lift people up if I were down.

If something is good for you, it can be good to you in a loving manner. My mother was good to me and what she taught me was good for me, but eating all those veggies when I was little did not feel like love to me.

Iam

This meme is my mantra for my life. It’s what I had to tell myself everyday for a year until I could look comfortably in the mirror and own it. It wasn’t easy, but it laid the foundation of who I am today.

Picfont is good to me and is set up to lovingly assist. I will grow and get better at making memes and eventually try more challenging software. It will need to be good to me, to be good for me, or I will not stick with it.

Challenge is good and helps us grow, but it needs to do so with love.
