No Plan B

I write to understand my life, is a quote I saw this week. That is what you will find here. Stories of my life and the people in it. Some are here and some have passed through. If you’re reading one of these and can relate, you’re either going through something similar, or you were there. I rarely mention a name but if you were there, I thank you now.

I was once leery of writing about the men in my life. There hasn’t been many, but I am thankful today for each one. You already know I was married half my life, but did you know I was in a relationship for a year and a half after the divorce? He follows my Blog, or used to. I think it was too much for him to read. His name was not there but he was.

blogHe used to always tells me, “There needs to be a Plan B.” If we are following God, does there need to be a Plan B? I don’t think so. That would be making a plan in case God failed. God never fails. We fail God.

I learned so much in that relationship. You have seen snippets of it here without even realizing it and you will see more. It doesn’t take a lot of people to write your life story. It takes a lot of lessons learned over time.

I don’t say that to be harsh. I have learned from every person in my life. God works through people. They come into our lives to teach us and that makes us the person we are meant to be. You need more patience? Oh my.

God will use people and situations to help! There is a saying, “Don’t pray for patience or you’ll get it.” It’s a painful practice for me but necessary. Waiting on God takes a huge amount of patience. Otherwise, I would do it myself and that’s even more painful.

When your time is up with that person it shouldn’t be painful. So many people are mourning broken hearts and that is the main reason I am a Coach. To help people get past the pain and learn to live. You had a life before them and it should be better because of them. It may hurt because they are gone but if they were meant to stay they would still be there. ‘God’s got a plan.’ My daughter at 15, reminded me of that today. She has learned what she has been taught.

Simply The best

Walking into a shop, I could just barely hear this song coming out of the sound system. Simply the Best, by Tina Turner was playing and those three words were the loudest part of the song. I admire Tina for everything she went through. Such a beautiful and talented lady that knew her worth, even though the tabloids revealed her man did not.

Your self worth is invaluable. You need to know it and own it. Don’t allow anyone to tarnish what you believe about yourself.

We should have standards. Good morals. People will try and get you to meet theirs which sometime means lowering yours. I have found if those people are going to be in my life, they need to come up and meet mine.

That may seem harsh, but it’s self care and preservation. Past relationships have beat me up and down to where I had to search diligently to find myself again. God has always brought me through to the other side stronger than before.

I am a better woman today because of what I’ve been through, but I’m slowing down on the lessons learned.

Knowing I am worthy of every good thing God has in store is enough. The people He places in my life today may not be the easiest people in the world, but they are worth it. God will use people to challenge you for what He wants changed. Need more patience? He will send someone that requires patience. Need to learn how to wait? Welcome to waiting. Put those two together and you have a new skill called patiently waiting.

The right want the same thing for you that God does. Simply the best.

Make Me Wait

I have not been good at waiting. Being patient and waiting are two different things. Patience reflects the good attitude during the wait. Without patience, I can bulldoze through and make things happen. Today, I choose to wait.

waiting

I like to wait 3 days before making a decision. If it has the ability to alter my path, I can wait. It took Jesus three days to rise from the dead. A lot can happen in three days! Waiting can grow tiresome and make me weary in well doing, but I must not faint.

I wait while writing every Blog.

God will show me a topic and I see the title. That always comes first, but it’s up to me and my patience in knowing what that title means. There are many avenues it could take. Choosing what I want to share is the hardest part. The page waits while I try to fill it.

To see how patient someone really is, sit them down in front of a computer with very slow Internet. Remember dial up?

I have learned less is more. A few weeks ago I thought the length of my Blog reflected the amount of words in my heart. Looking at this today, I realize it just took a lot of words to get around to what I really wanted to say. Weaving my way with words and edits.

It’s acceptable to make me wait.

Revealed in Time

It has been raining this week for what seems like forever. I’m sure it was only two days, but here’s what my pond and pier look like.

Where are the steps?

Earlier today I was comparing this to God’s goodness. How He just loves to overflow in our lives. Later in the day what began as overflow, turned into drowning. Was it all God?

I don’t believe God wants to ‘drown’ us. We wouldn’t be worth much to Him in that capacity. He wants us to be pliable, while observing the occurrences of the day. What was good, and what was not so good. Sometimes we have to face the challenges and responsibilities of life to get to the goodness.

If I do my part and do the very best I can, God meets me there. If life hits too hard and fast, I’m learning to wait. God has taken so many problems out of my life just by waiting on Him. By continuing to give it to God, to lay it at His feet, He will take either take it, because it was a test of my faith, or use it to strengthen me.

The picture of the flooded pond is a great example of faith. Even though I cannot see the steps leading to the pier, I know they’re there. They will be revealed in time.

Pop the Top

What we allow to continue will continue.

That is one of my favorite quotes and one of the hardest to implement. When I was first learning how to spend time with God and pray, I would pray for patience. God had about a years worth of entertainment with me giving me more than enough to be patient about. Don’t pray for patience.

My daughter is 15 years old and wise beyond her years. She doesn’t allow people or their behaviors to affect her. Everything I preach and every quote I’ve ever said has stuck to her like glue. Now she gives me quotes and shares her strength with me daily. I strive to be more like her.

She’s active but selective with social media. Snapchat is one of her favorite tools of communication. I think it’s cool because you can show someone the expression on your face and also type a text across the screen. It’s the closest thing I’ve seen to receiving a message with emotion.

When you Snapchat someone, and they open it, which the app will reveal, it’s considered rude if you don’t Snapchat back immediately. My daughter and I  live in a drama free environment, so it’s hilarious when she dramatically says, “FINE! DON”T SNAPCHAT ME BACK YOU PEASANT!”  It’s not good if my daughter calls you a ‘peasant’.

We burst out laughing, I say a quick prayer for the poor soul who didn’t respond, and she moves on. She’ll pick up her guitar and practice for her next cover, or go do schoolwork, just whatever is on her list that needs to be accomplished that day. She’s completely over it within seconds.

You are valuable and you need to be treated as such. It’s rude to be ignored. Go over this list I try to live by and make sure the people you’ve allowed in, live up to the list. Do they love you, motivate you, encourage you, inspire you, enhance you and bring you joy? If not…I’ll hold the can of Whoop A, and you pop the top.
