I Will Fight For You

I don’t get mad, but this morning, I am seething for another Blogger. She is a newbie, and a bully came out to play on her Blog.

She wrote a Blog referring to the neighborhood she grew up in as the ‘Ghetto.’ Whose neighborhood was it? Hers.

The bully left a long, derogatory comment on her post.

I’ve had one derogatory comment left on my Blog.

It was when I was a member of Patreon, and trying to raise money to publish a book. This guy raked me over the coals for trying to get paid for my work.

Again, whose Patreon account was it? Mine.

His comment didn’t bother me because I’ve learned something. What we say and do can touch a nerve in other souls, and they lash out at us for touching that nerve. His comment was hateful, but eloquently written, so I wondered if he was a writer that didn’t get paid. I didn’t respond, and hit delete.

Don’t respond to bullies. That’s what they want.

My new friend has only been Blogging for a few weeks, and she is writing about her past. We all know how healing that can be, but that one comment crushed her spirit. She deleted all her posts!

What’s amazing is we have to maneuver our way through a post with an F bomb in every sentence, and that’s completely acceptable, but she gets slayed for using ‘Ghetto’. We live in a screwed up world.

My friend, if you are reading this, I want you to know you are loved. You woke up this morning to a new beginning, and I pray you will leap onto the path and write. If someone degrades you again, I have a really big stick with their name on it.

That is Love

This morning, sitting still in the front porch swing, I felt an overwhelming sense of love. It was the most wonderful feeling. It welled up inside of me, and wanted to become tears, but I held it inside to hold onto that moment.

It only got better from there.

You know I frequent a small town coffee-house.

The coffee is a bonus. It’s the people I gravitate toward. Today, their love and kindness blew me away. God had it all lined up for me to walk in at just the right moment. The owner was making something specifically for my heart.

I walked in and he yelled, “Barbara! I am making something for you!” The timing is what amazed me, because I rarely walk in the same time of day. My daughter said, “When they know you all too well at the coffee shop?” That is true love.

athingofbeauty

He had bought a beautiful pour over, along with my favorite kettle! I was literally screaming in awe of this magnificent sight! He was beaming with excitement. It was a moment.

He said that he envisioned my daughter and I sitting at a table, sharing this moment. He would be right. Just the other day, my daughter said she wished he had a pour over.

**********

God gave me another Patron! That is love.

A friend takes time out of her busy schedule each day to send a video of her life, and thoughts. That is love.

You are here, taking time to read this. That is love.

A Vintage hat box full of stars. That is love.

The What If’s

My daughter filled the crock pot with wonderfulness yesterday. I am not sure what all it has in it, but it’s true love in a mug. Some of it was Almond milk, Espresso, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, and fall spices. I saved what was left and placed it in the fridge. We don’t own a microwave, so there was something about heating it up in a small pan on the stove that placed me directly in happiness mode.

I took time this weekend to read some Blogs I follow.

For some reason it was like some of their words jumped off the screen at me. They gave me the strength to reopen my Patreon page. A few Bloggers that I follow use Patreon. One is Little Fears. Anyone that writes about Little Fears is brave in my mind. He is usually the first Blogger to ‘like’ my posts.

After working on my Patreon page, I sent the link to a friend. She said, “I will support you!” That is not what I was expecting. I just wanted her opinion about what it said, and how it looked. It warmed my heart to know that she would.

She asked, “What if each reader gave $1?” She also reminded me, “If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.”

So, I scanned through some other Patreon pages, and found one that brings in over $5,000 a month. He has over 5,000 Patrons. Her philosophy worked for him, so what if?

Personally, I wouldn’t know what to do with that much money a month. I would be able to quit my job, write full-time, and publish a book. What if that happened? I would be happier than I already am. Am I fearful of being happier than I already am? Let’s keep moving forward, and find out.

Pulling the Plug

I had to laugh at what just happened. Technology can be our friend, but sometimes it works too well. When it is connected correctly, all you have to do is push one button, and away it goes!

I haven’t used the ‘Publicize’ option on my Blog before. Instead, I have been manually going to every social media site I have an account with, and posting the link to my Blog. We have an option through WordPress for ‘sharing’ our posts automatically through Publicize. By connecting our Social Media accounts to this option, Publicize shares everything we publish!

The photo it uses to display the Blog could be any photo on my site. It may pick my Instagram photo, or my Bio pic, and this bothers me. Do you think it’s a control issue, or perfectionism?

God is showing me I need to take advantage of these tools of automation. So, I connected my Blog to Publicize last week, and haven’t written anything since. Let me stop here to catch you up. What I was playing around with today, that made me laugh will make more sense then.

I was driving home Monday, and started a converstaion with God while driving. This is how I pray, by just having a normal, sometimes one sided, conversation with Him, anytime and anywhere. I asked Him, “What do you want me to do with my life?” He was quick to respond with, “I want you to use everything I’ve already given you.” Don’t you just love that?

This is the point in the Blog where I could run off in three different directions, but I’ll try to stay focused. One of the things God showed me that I haven’t used is Patreon. He showed it to me how long ago?? Oh yeah…..about a year ago! I set up an account, and shared it maybe once, and that was it. I couldn’t wrap my mind around people supporting me financially for writing.

I am writing a book. There are two in process, but God has nudged one in front of the other. I am writing about my Breast Cancer Journey, with big emphasis on the journey. It seems people see Cancer as the dreadful ‘C’ word, and it’s only a label. The diagnosis is not the outcome. It’s only the beginning of what can be an amazing transformation, if you have the proper lense.

God wants me to offer people a new lense.

I went back to Patreon, and redid my page including some detail of the book. Patreon for me is giving people the opportunity to be a part of something big! I will post exerpts from the book on Patreon, and they will be involved in the entire process of the book. The hills and valleys!

***Here comes the funny part in case you are wondering. ***

This morning I downloaded the Patreon logo to use at the bottom of my Blog. I opened up my Blogsite, and started a draft to play around with it. I uploaded the logo, and copied and pasted the url behind it. Being in draft mode, it wouldn’t let me click on the logo, so what did I do? Well…I hit Publish of course!!! Just for a minute so it would activate the link behind the logo!

I refreshed the Homepage of my Blog, and there it was, the ginormous Patreon logo looking like a Blog. I clicked on it, and it took my straight to the page. Success! I just missed one detail. As soon as I hit ‘Publish’, Publicize shot that logo out to all my social media sites as a Blog!!!

stupidpeople

I know I’m not really stupid, but it made me feel pretty stupid! Of course, I went to all my Social Media sites, and removed the post, but I just had to laugh. I had forgotten I had set it up to do just that! If you are wondering, let me assure you, Publicize works, and it works fast!!!

So, here is my first actual Blog using Publicize. Can’t wait to see what picture it chooses!

Take A Chance

chance-quotes

I woke up at 4 am this morning. Normally, I can go back to sleep, but I decided to get up . I start Radiation today on the breast that had Cancer. My guess would be, I’m nervous about the unknown. How will it effect me physically? Once again, trusting God to go before me.

This has been a year of unknown. When I found out I had breast cancer, everything moved quickly. The doctors were shooting me through the appropriate hoops, to receive the care they thought best. They had it all mapped out…a plan for the cure. Wouldn’t it be nice if someone would hand you a plan for your life? Here it is honey…all mapped out for you.

God has a plan. A couple of verses I remind myself of at times like this are, Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”, and Isaiah 55:8, “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.”

God doesn’t hand us the full life plan all mapped out like the doctors did for this year. All I know to do is take it one day at a time, and sometimes one moment at a time. I believe if God showed us His plan for us all at once, it would scare us, and we probably wouldn’t believe it. I walked this Cancer path in disbelief for a while after the doctors revealed it.

When I started this Blog a couple of years ago, I thought I would write my most personal feelings, but I haven’t. There is a certain level I hit, and then I stop myself from revealing anything too personal. It’s the same way in relationships. I stop myself from giving my all.

I went to the Farmer’s Market this weekend, and saw my friends that are vendors at the market. These are wonderful women, who have taken care of my daughter and me, on days I wasn’t sure I could. We love one another, and laugh together, but this weekend I was in for a surprise. God was getting ready to show me some truth I wasn’t sure I was ready to see.

I have been steadily working on writing a book, and one of my friends asked about it. She asked what the title was going to be, and I told her I wasn’t sure yet. I told her, “I will probably sign it as Letitgocoach, instead of my real name because that is what people know me as.” We were standing in front of another ladies table at the time, and her expression grew deep in thought.

“Letitgocoach?”, she asked. “I enjoy the postings on that Facebook page. Is that you?!!!”

This Facebook page was my baby, and I started it about the same time I started this Blog.

I had seen my friend’s name on my page, liking and commenting on some of the posts. It was fun for me to respond to her sweet comments, but I just assumed she knew it was me.

That page recently reached what I call a milestone, with 10,000 likes. Some of my peers that have pages, post things that have nothing to do with them personally. I understand that, but I thought I was posting little pieces of my heart all over that page. Each post usually resonates with me in some way. My friend showed me that once again, I was playing it safe.

I am believing that somebody out there needs to hear this today! Are you playing it safe?

I say we drop below that level of comfort and do the things that scare us. Take a chance.

Leap of Faith

My daughter is back home from a long weekend at ACL. Her boyfriend is back in Missouri safe and sound. She is exhausted, and a feeling a bit under the weather. This gives me the chance to take care of her, like she has me for months. It feels good to be able to give back.

There is a Meme I’ll be sharing at the end of this Blog, that has been on my mind ever since I saw it a week ago. It gave me great comfort in knowing it is true. There have been many a time in my life where I went down a side trail, and off God’s path. He’s a patient God, and stands there waiting for my return. He also watches just to make sure I don’t hurt myself.

I took a minute from typing, and pulled up Facebook. TobyMac had posted this, and it was right in front of me, as I went back to typing. I take it as a sign from God that what I did today was okay with Him. You see, God showed me something a couple of months ago, and I didn’t do it. I talked myself out of it because I didn’t feel qualified to go through with it.

blog

Have you ever done that?

God lays something right in front of you, and you say, “No thank you God. I can’t do that.”

I believe that is the idea. There is no way I could write, without God. Oh, I have tried! They all end up in the trash. Pretty awful stuff, but if I wait on God to prompt me what to write, that is what you get to read. That is why there is not a consistent schedule with my posts.

I wait. Sometimes waiting is good, but other times it’s disobedience to Him if it’s out of fear. Today, I did what He showed me a couple of months ago. I joined Patreon. My account is on hold while they check me out, so I can’t share it with you yet. It is a site where you can donate on a monthly basis to the creative of your choice. To be a part of adding fruit to their labor.

To receive financial support for what God has called me to do. A leap of faith is always scary. For me, it’s God calling me out of my comfort zone, into bigger and better things.

The only way to know if it’s from God, and to see if it will even work, it to just do it. So, we will see! I know these things take time and patience, which is not a problem for me. I also know God wants me to write a book, and that is what Patreon will help me do. Not only financially, but it will hold me accountable to you, as I write it. You will become my fuel.

So, back to the Meme I promised at the beginning of this Blog. Here it is Beautiful Souls, and I pray that you will look at your leap of faith today, and just do it. Even if you’re afraid.
