Let’s be more like them…
Let’s be more like them…
Let’s be more like them…
One of my favorite writers is SC Lourie.
When she writes, the words pour from her very soul. I received an email from her and wish to share it because November is the time for a soul reset.
It begins November 1st, but no stress darling.
I’ve walked many a journey with Sam, and she moves gently. Would love to have you join me on this journey. Here is the link. Much love, Barb. xx
When I first moved to this little farm house on 40 acres, I had no clue what God had in store. I was hoping this was His will, but concerned that maybe this was my move and not His. There was nothing out here but grass, trees and a pond with a pier beside the house. This is what nothingness looked like and I slowly recalled mentioning to God, that is what I wanted. Give me nothingness.
The entire story of the Blue Heron, or the Stork we named Elvis, is written in my Blog, Just Breathe. He was my sign that I was at the right house and exactly where I needed to be. There are actually two storks. The Blue Heron was the first one to show up and then a white Egret came to visit.
The white one, named Marilyn shows up often, so we don’t pay much attention to that one. She is here almost everyday, stays for a bit and leaves. Elvis is very majestic and carries himself with intention. Sometimes he makes himself known, like this morning, as I was gazing out the window. He purposefully strolled right into sight as if to say, “Good Morning Barbara. I’m here.”
At other times, I have to search for him. His coloring blends in with the brush and trees around the pond, so I have to look for movement for him to come into view. Sometimes, I just know he’s there without even looking. His presence fills me with peace and promise of good things to come. When he shows up, I can almost guarantee, a change is coming in my life.
Stork is fearless. I’m looking out the window now and it’s pouring down rain. He’s just standing there, watching for his morning catch of fish. The rain is not going to deter him from his mission. He is focused on eating and is not bothered by his environment. Now, if I go outside with gusto, and the screen door slams, it will disturb his focus and he will fly away. They are instinctual animals, so a loud noise resembling a gunshot will prompt him to flee to safety.
Look for signs. They are there because God always gives me a heads up before He swoops in and moves. Just like the Egret, God moves swiftly in my life, but he shows me little things leading up to the event. I may see nothing at first and that within itself is a sign that something has changed. Watch for the slightest movement. It will step into view when I’m strong enough to handle it.
My hope is you get this faster than I did. It took me over half my life to find this truth.
Realize that true happiness lies within you. Waste no time and effort searching for peace and contentment and joy in the world outside. Remember that there is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving. Reach out. Share. Smile. Hug. Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself.
I have had a lot of levels of success, and all the material objects that brings. None of that brought me happiness. If it did it was a fleeting moment like driving the car off the showroom floor. It was temporary like the new car smell.
I finally realized if I was happy on the inside, I was successful. Success doesn’t bring happiness; happiness brings success in every area of my life. Giving of myself to others bring even more happiness. A friend once told me, “You can’t give away what you don’t have, but you must give away what you want to keep.”
Let the goodness inside of you flow onto others. It will come back to you in such abundance, you’ll never be able to give it all away.
Went to one of the best concerts ever last night with my daughter, and we’ve been to quite a few! It was a beautiful venue, and the weather was perfect, for Texas. You know me, I’m going to observe the crowd, and I saw so many levels of overwhelm. I call these…’OMG Moments’.
My daughter tweeted after the show, “OMGtour is called what it is because that’s all you say after meeting…..”, and tagged all the artists she met. How many OMG Moments do you have during a day or week? When life hits you with rapid fire, or you look at your phone in disbelief at what someone just texted you?
Here at Letting Go, we teach how to quiet your mind and think thoughts you choose to think. Experts estimate that the mind thinks between 60,000 – 80,000 thoughts a day. That’s an average of 2500 – 3,300 thoughts per hour. What are you thinking?
Thoughts consist of sentences. Sentences consist of words. Words are part of language. The mind uses language, words or pictures to describe or define reality. This means that anytime you hear language or are seeing pictures you know that you are in your mind. At the concert, there were signs everywhere that said, OMG, so you can imagine the extreme energy that was felt.
The young girls were overwhelmed with emotion at meeting and seeing their fav artists. Some to the point of breaking down and crying. I ran into a Mom, who told me, “This is all so overwhelming to me!” The first step is accepting what you see or hear without judgment, that if you’re hearing language or seeing pictures, you are in the mind. I wanted to tell her, “Relax, and enjoy the present moment. It will be gone in a second.” It made my heart hurt that she was so overwhelmed with something I found to be fabulous! This moment for me was about listening and being quiet.
There are situations you will find yourself in that will require the least amount to the greatest amount of involvement. There are times you are there to simply witness what is happening. There are other times you are called to act. There are times you will be called to pay attention and at the perfect moment, you will be called to add your wisdom.
Remember, the mind is aware and it wants to remain in charge. The mind is scared of being peaceful for in the state of peace the mind has no role. This is when breathing exercises are a must. By taking deep breaths, and paying close attention to your breathing, your mind stops. You cannot breathe deep and slowly and think at the same time. Try to be in the being state as much as possible…being present, being grounded, being connected or being aware. We often tell our clients, “You don’t have to think as much as you think you need to think.” The bottom line is….How free do you want to be?
