Rise to It

Bella Donovan Hero. The name of the coffee in the featured photo. The photo has been on my desktop for a month as something to aspire to.

The man I work with lives in California. He usually sends an email while I sleep, outlining the day’s assignments. It’s customary to wake up and view the email to help plan my day, but Tuesday morning, there was no new email. I took it as a sign.

Take a day Barb. Just take a day.

And I did. How freeing to let a Tuesday unfold all on it’s own. Recently, I was reminded that before we even get out of bed, God already has our day planned. We can watch for treasures hidden throughout the day, but to do that, I needed to slow the pace.

My morning coffee was treated as an event. I broke open the seal of the box containing two glass cups along with bamboo coasters, purchased a week ago. Swiping this photo from the Bluebottle website, I noticed they are now unavailable.

They arrived over the weekend in a box that looked like an over sized jewelry box. I slid open the lid to take a peek. What I saw made me a little bit nervous. The cups looked so delicate, compared to the ceramic mugs we normally use.

The photo inspired me to drink coffee from something delicate, instead of durable.

They looked safe in the box, or I guess you could put them on display, but we don’t display items. Everything is to be used, and enjoyed in this house, but looking at these cups you could tell. They were designed to be a moment, even on a Tuesday.

Life is an occasion. We are designed to rise to it.

Don’t Get Up

I’m trying to find my groove with posting a Blog.

My job has taken on full-time status, 7 days a week, and I give it my all. I believe while you work the job, you still need to fuel the dream. Writing is a dream come true for me.

Here’s another photo from my vison board.

I was awakened this morning by a storm. A thunderstorm would definitely wake me up in this room. I can imagine the rain cascading down that window, while watching the light show.

It’s funny how all my photo’s include a desk.

Some photo’s are merely a desk with a view. That wasn’t done on purpose, or logically. I believe my heart chose the photos. A vision comes from the heart my darling. It’s when it floats up to the head, we tend to talk ourselves out of our dreams.

You see, it’s not about finding the time to write a post. It’s about finding that space where you simply sit down in front of the keys and the words begin to pour. I love to write, but like most things pertaining to love, it doesn’t like to be forced.

This space is my favorite place to be.

In the book Bird by Bird, by Anne Lamott, she says this little prayer when she sits down to write. “Please help me get out of the way, so I can write what wants to be written.”

Lamott concludes, “Don’t stand up until it’s written.”

Don’t let your mind talk you out of your dream. There’s always time, but once you find that space, sit down and don’t get up.

A Full Bloom

I’m reading Stephanie’s book, “An Accidental Awakening.”, and it’s food for my soul. There’s a part in it I read yesterday that felt as if she was talking straight to me. What she describes has happened to me too, but I’ve fallen away from taking heed.

It happened again this morning.

The first time you wake up is when you need to get up. When your body is fully rested, it naturally wakes up. There’s a reason it wants you to get out of bed, but I normally just roll over in hopes for a few more minutes of shuteye.

This morning, the first time I woke up was 5:50 am. What I’d read in Stephanie’s book crossed my mind, but I didn’t get out of bed. I had an early haircut appointment and just wanted a little more sleep.

Now, I’m just flat out curious as to what the early morning wants to show me.

I’m ready for the warm months of Texas, so today’s haircut was mostly shave, and some cut. Top long and the rest shaved. Once complete, my stylist rinsed off the excess hair. The shampoo she used piqued my senses, and I told her, “That smells good.” She handed me a new bottle of shampoo and said, “This smell good too.”

I brought the shampoo home and sat it in the shower alongside the Waterpik!

Bloom

Of course, it’s named Bloom.

I’ve written about the bloom, and one post in particular was posted almost exactly one year ago entitled, Ready to Bloom. Words are like seeds and I’ve done a lot of sowing.

It’s that time of year when my heart begins leaning toward the sun preparing to bloom. The seeds sown last year will bloom this year, and I’m anticipating a full bloom.
