A Divine Responsibility

I had planned on writing about Self-care Sunday. It was pondered continually and a couple of people asked, “What does that look like Barb?”

It’s ironic because I gave a different answer each time. It was like I couldn’t pinpoint just one thing and give a duplicate response. It was difficult to convey, but here I sit feeling very well cared for.

The weekend flowed from one thing to the other. It’s not that I have a feeling of accomplishment or really did anything noteworthy, but maybe it’s in the things I didn’t do.

I didn’t worry about anything.

I didn’t look at my work for tomorrow.

I didn’t strategize the week ahead.

I didn’t go to any of my favorite shops and become inundated with Christmas when we haven’t even had Thanksgiving yet. The world outside my home felt rushed. Sirens blared down the highway above my street every few minutes.

I lit the candle from Savor the Moments.

Every time I walked into my bedroom a deep breath was greeted by the scent from that candle. My workload was light this weekend, but I gave it my best. It would seem the ultimate self-care is a divine responsibility.

A Peaceful Sunday

My camera roll reflects my life. The caption for this photo would read, “Happy Sunday. It’s ‘be good to you’ day. Which should be everyday, but it’s a little bit sweeter on a Sunday.”

It’s how this day began.

Sunday has rapidly become my favorite day of the week. What I do today and the care I take, sets the stage for tomorrow. There are no plans for today and no ‘to do’ list that needs checking off. The list will be looked at tonight.

This meme by SC Lourie watered my heart and describes this Sunday feeling spot on.

It reminded me of the quote, “Enjoy where you are on the way to where you’re going.” My hope is no matter what you do today, enjoy it.

Have yourself a peaceful Sunday.

A Lazy Day

I believe sometimes we just need to admit to this. It is a lazy day, and that’s okay.

I’m sitting in my room overlooking the lake. It’s windy, but sunny, and I love watching the wind blow across the water. It wouldn’t be fun in a boat, but it’s soothing from where I sit.

I’m to a point in my life, where I don’t feel guilty for taking a day to do absolutely nothing. The busy bee season is long gone, thank God. Today, I will allow my soul to catch up with the rest of me. I’m giving myself permission to enjoy a lazy day.
